It's been a great ride so far and I can't believe we've hit over 50 episodes already! Mike and I have met some great dads over the past year and a half and have learned so much. Our social media communities have become more engaged and we have met some other great podcasters through The Parents on Demand Network. Our families are doing great, Mike's two kids are growing and turning into fine young men! My daughters are the best of friends. Our oldest Eleanor (2) loves her sister, and Lucy (6 months) just smiles and adores Eleanor. All of the kids are healthy and doing great. We have been very lucky to have Eric Silvera join us as as a guest host for many episodes and mini-episodes. He has become more of a permanent host than a guest. He is a funny guy and has some great content on Instagram. Look for his movie coming soon get all the latest updates through his Instagram @ericreggie. As we move into year two of the podcast we are looking forward to talking to more dads. We will be teaming up again with The Detroit Grooming Company for a Dad/Men's Health Movember Episode. We also have many other dads from all over the US and the world. If you have a show idea, let us know at any of the following outlets. It has been a whirlwind of a month. My wife and I welcomed our second child Lucy to this world on April 24th, 2018. Lucy is very healthy and Mom is now recovered from the birth. Between the demands of a new born and chasing Eleanor (our one and a half year old) around we aren't getting much rest. Although it can be tough our hearts are full of joy with our family.
Eleanor loves her sister and lets her know all the time. We are trying to teach her to be gentle, and she is starting to grasp that concept all though she doesn't always get it just yet. I can't wait to see the two of them develop into best friends. I can already see the relationship forming and it fills my heart with joy. I got to spend an awesome four weeks with the family before returning back to work. It was very bittersweet to go back and I miss them all every day. It is nice knowing that because I teach I will be home with them again soon. Then its fun family times at the zoo and in our pool. This month also marks the one year anniversary to Eleanor's AVSD repair. She is such a fighter and a tough cookie! She has developed an awesome personality and is such a kind spirit! Lauren and I like to think the twin we lost early on is watching over Eleanor, and came back to us in Lucy. If you follow our story, it shouldn't have been this easy to have a second, so we are very blessed. Though the last few years have been difficult and often a little scary, Lucy has helped to heal our hearts and make our family complete. We have some amazing shows coming up the next couple months, and more guests being scheduled. Please shoot us an email if you have a show idea or would like to be on the show experienceanddad@gmail.com. Don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review. Remember we have lots of great content now coming your way weekly now! ![]() There has been a lot going on in Adam's household! We are painting, moving out furniture, moving back in infant necessities, and just trying to stay ahead of the game. As a matter of fact we are now eight days away from our second baby girl. Do we really ever stay ahead of the game? I used to say Pre-Kids I just don't have enough time to do xyz, well now that we have one kid I always feel like I can't get anything done. I am a bit nervous for what that means with two kids!! I am sure we will manage. Look at this blog, I set out to try and write in this twice a month and it is now April 16th. Best laid plans right! Well lots of things going on Lauren and I have been busy re-infant proofing the house, and trying to prep best we can for baby two. We really feel like we are much farther behind than when we prepped for Eleanor. Although this pregnancy has been a much more typical pregnancy compared to our last it has been different. I am not even going to claim being tired or say it has been hard. Lauren is a champ and has been not only doing great with the pregnancy, but chasing around Nora, and teaching her first graders! She is super woman I don't know how she does it. Eleanor continues to amaze me, she is such a kind, fun loving, and gentle soul. She is super sweet, and is so much fun to interact with. She is always happy and it melts my heart to see her intact with Amma, Nannu, Papi, and Nanna (the grandparents). It also breaks my heart when they leave because she is at that age where she doesn't want anyone to ever leave. She loves to try and be sneaky and climb things, and don't get in the way of her and her meal times. She loves her Elmos, yes that's not a typo it is plural! She has four Elmos and three out of the four of them talk. This isn't counting the countless clothing and books she has. The worst part about the talking Elmos is when I am headed to get a late night snack and the thing pops on and starts to talk to you. It's almost like Chucky is coming to get us. I don't understand the whole obsession with Elmo, but at least its better than Barney. I just wish they would bring back more of the Muppets. Yes, yes I know the Muppet Babies are back, and I am an 80's kid hence the Chucky reference. I want non computer generated Muppets Babies, even better bring back the variety show. Now that would be sweet. Over all things are going great and I can't wait for Eleanor to meet her new sister. I am not quite sure she knows whats coming yet. Finally, I am so grateful and happy the podcast is continuing to grow! I think you all will be very excited about the next episodes coming up. We tried to pre-record a few, because it could get a bit busy in our household the next couple of weeks. This week I am joined by my wife Lauren as a guest host. In this episode we talk to the hilarious and amazingly smart author of Man Versus Baby Matt Coyne on. Matt's take on parenting is very informative yet entertaining. This one is marked explicit so you know things get real and the poop might even hit the fan, or at least get talked about! We also have an episode from Mom's perspective where Lauren joins us again, but this time as a guest to talk about raising our first child, what she is thinking going into baby number two, and those sensitive issues and needs Mom's don't always ask for from Dads. Stay tuned to the blog as I will be sharing more about our other upcoming episodes and guests, I will also try to keep updating on what is going on with baby number 2, Eleanor, and oh year Lauren and I! We are always looking for more dads to join us on the show and share their experiences. You don't have to be an expert (trust me I know this first hand), but everyone brings something real to the table! We are currently scheduling for our June and July guests so please email us at dadexppodcast@gmail.com and let us know. Don't forget to subscribe, rate, and review on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, The Google Play Store, or any other major podcast database. As always, Keep on Being the Best Dad You Can Be! As you can see we have had lots of changes since the first of the year! We now have a new look on our website, a new web domain www.thedadexperiencepodcast.com, and have been using lots of new innovative ways to get information to you from The Dad Experience. All of this with new exciting shows being recorded or awaiting their release date! First and foremost we'd like to think our returning listeners, especially those who have been listening from the beginning! We know it's not just our parents and spouses listening :). We'd also like to thank the new listeners and subscribers whether you found us through another podcast on The POD Network, Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram! Please continue to help us by sharing our podcast, rating us, and or reviewing us. Even though it seems very small and doesn't make a difference, this does go a long way and helps us to be found. Through this we can bring you more content and reach more listeners. We are sure by now you have noticed that those crazy empty breaks in the episodes are beginning to have ads in them. With the move to our new network we now have become a part of their ad program. This is great news as, 1. The products should all be related to parenting, and 2. We can now do more like update the website, and add other new technologies to make the podcast even better for our listeners. When I (Adam) set out to create this podcast it started more as a audio journal where I could listen and learn from others. After talking with others and their interest in the topic, this turned into sharing it with the masses. The podcast is a hobby for myself and Mike, but to meet the ever growing demands and continue at our best we needed to put more into it. So in order to keep what we do free and the content free we have now added advertising to our show. So, please take a minute to listen to those ads, and we promise we will not put anything out their that Mike or I don't agree with. This past weekend was so great, I had some time off so Eleanor and I got to spend some quality time together! We did some shopping, played, read lots of books, and watched some Sesame Street! Although this was exhausting it was one of the best weekends Eleanor and I have had! This all topped off with an amazing date night with the wife. A special shout out to Amma and Nannu for having Eleanor spend the night! (see the pictures below!) Along with all of the exciting things happening on the show Adam and his wife Lauren are expecting their second daughter at the end of April. With that comes prepping a nursery, keeping our sanity at work, and trying to record some fresh content so that The Dad Experience Podcast doesn't miss a beat. We are all very excited and nervous about out new addition. We are also trying to prep our daughter Eleanor for the new exciting change. We will continue to update and let you know when the baby arrives, and how Eleanor is handling the transition. Being super new at all of this and very soon having to kids under two in the house we are feeling a bit overwhelmed. So I am bring this blog post to all of you and hopefully get some great words of wisdom and advice from Dads (Moms and grandparents....) On how to handle all of these new experiences that are about to take place. Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts! It is so exiting to see this begin to grow the way it is. Remember this is listener generated discussion. Although we will have on experts in from different parenting specialties, our main mission with the podcast is to create content with our listeners. So if you have a show idea or want to be a guest on the show, please let us know. We are all about listening and sharing with each other to hopefully make being a parent a little bit easier. We appreciate all of you and keep being the great Dads that you all are! I found this week that I had 2 days in a row where I had late nights at work, and each time I came home my daughter was sleeping. It just breaks my heart. If you or anyone you know anyone who is away from their kids for long periods of time Mike and I would love to have them on the show. Please get in touch with us via our contact page.
